HeyCharge delivers a new generation of ultra-low-cost, scalable, and reliable EV charging powered by our technology that replaces the internet connection at each charger with our secure, token-based communication via each user's smartphone. Our chargers work fast, 100% reliably, and even in low-coverage and no-coverage zones such as underground parking.
Connected EV charging is plagued by reliability, cost, and scalability challenges. We solve this by allowing our own users to bring the connectivity by relaying data via their smart phones, but with our patent pending end-to-end security layer. This solves reliability problems for the end user, and cost and scalability problems for the charging infrastructure operator.
The only competition we have in the "works offline" and "infrastructure-free" aspects of EV charging is a company called Xeal. However, their tech is based on blockchain. While trendy, it's not really an efficient way to solve the problems we solve -- and so their end-customer costs are 2-4x as high as ours (both for hardware and for recurring platform service) -- these are structure and sustainable advantages due to our unique technology.
We class ourselves as a "hardware enabled SaaS" business. Our focus is on selling our software platform and/or software integration toolkit which generates recurring platform (SaaS) fees. We sell hardware to enable the experience (and make good margin on it) but are building a rather Android-like ecosystem of third party hardware partners who deliver complementary hardware products to the market, enabling a wide choice for our customers. We sell our ready-to-use software platform directly in Germany and through reseller-operator partners globally and have revenue proof points for both. Our software integration platform is already in a paid pilot with one of the largest utilities in the United States, with more utility pilots planned.
In general, our customers are all "operators" of charging infrastructure, but this runs the gamut from utilities to dedicated charging operators to hospitality, and more. We are also an operator on our own platform, selling to real estate asset management and operator companies in Germany.
