MicroLED is the next major leap forward for displays on large panel TVs, smartwatches and VR/AR headsets. However, achieving the necessary high-efficiency, ultra-fine-pitch full-color pixels has proved a challenge at material, device and system levels. Porotech’s world’s first commercial microLED epi-wafer based on PoroGaN® and DPTTM technology provides an entirely new engineered material platform to build microdisplay on. Thanks to its superior material properties and functionalities, it enables all three primary colours, especially the difficult Red for conventional technology, to be made with the same GaN material and integrated on a single wafer, or even on a single pixel by totally eliminating sub-pixels from microdisplay architecture. Not only it offers scalability for mass production, and flexibility for process upgradation, but also simplicity for system integration, and resilience for supply chain.
